Design Studio / Concept 014
Future, written in the steppe.
A destination and civic website concept that turns Astana's extraordinary architecture, living culture and practical trip planning into one confident city experience.

The opportunity
Let the architecture become a compass for discovering the city.
Astana is a capital where monumental architecture, steppe traditions, winter light and contemporary ambition meet at remarkable scale. The concept gives those contrasts a clear digital identity instead of presenting landmarks, events, food and visitor information as separate directories.
Future, Written in the Steppe uses the city's skyline as both story and interface. Visitors can begin with the places that define Astana, follow the ideas behind them, or build a practical 24-hour or 48-hour journey with routes, weather, accessibility and travel time already considered.
02 / Journey builder
Move through Astana in rhythm.
A map-led planner turns landmarks, museums, food and events into a realistic day, with route time, opening context, weather and accessibility visible before a traveler saves the journey.
- 24-hour and 48-hour starting points
- Architecture, culture, food and event filters
- Travel time and route guidance
- Weather and accessibility context

03 / Architecture and identity
Read the city through its skyline.
An immersive editorial experience connects Astana's landmark buildings to the nomadic symbols, civic ideas and future-facing ambition that shaped them, then turns each story into a place to visit.
- Landmark-led editorial stories
- Architecture and symbolism timeline
- Panoramic river and skyline views
- Add any place directly to a journey

Architecture as identity
Baiterek, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, Khan Shatyr, Ak Orda and the riverfront become meaningful gateways into the city rather than a decorative skyline.
Culture in context
Kazakh pattern, color, cuisine and storytelling inform a modern design system without reducing the destination to ornament alone.
Inspiration becomes a plan
Every story can move directly into a timed journey with practical details, giving international visitors confidence before they arrive.
The design why
A future capital deserves a digital experience that makes its boldest ideas easy to enter, understand and explore.
Three connected design directions demonstrate the strategy, visual system and user experience opportunity across a complete journey.
