Why aren’t you seeing results with digital marketing?
2019 December 21
In the spirit of the New Year approaching, it is the annual time for consumers to get back on track with their fitness journey. We have all said it to ourselves and heard it from our friends, family and loved ones, “I want to lose 20 pounds.” “I want to get in shape.” “I want to workout five days a week.”
* Disclaimer this has EVERYTHING to do with digital marketing*
A research study was conducted that the attendance of consumers hitting the gym to knock out those New Year goals skyrockets the first couple weeks of January, but as time goes on, it slowly starts to die out. “You are too busy.” “It is too cold.” “It has been a long day.” “It is the weekend.” You have said it all and heard it all.
If you are the ones who stick with it, a couple of months down the road, you might notice that you aren’t seeing the results that you were hoping for. When this starts to happen, you are discouraged and stop working as hard. The same mentality can be translated into clients who commonly say, “we aren’t seeing the results we were hoping for.” This is how not seeing results at the gym can correlate with the same reasons a company is not seeing results with their digital marketing.
Do you feel as if you look like this, but in reality you look like this?
Just like you have to create a routine at the gym, a digital marketing agency will create a strategic routine for your digital marketing efforts. If a company has their digital marketing agency constantly changing their tactics because it is not bringing in more results, there will never be results. We are keeping it real with everyone. Why does consistency matter? Just like going to the gym three to six times a week, research after research study shows that a consumer will not be hooked with just one message. It takes about seven times for a consumer to recognize your brand and 15 times for them to start trusting you.
Without that consistent messaging and posting, it will never make the big impact one is hoping for.
We know, we sit there and speak about consistency, then the next bullet point we are speaking about “switching it up.” However, when our digital marketing agency says, “switch it up” we are not speaking about an entire strategy. Please do not throw away your entire strategy, but really take a moment to understand what is and is not working.
How can a company understand if their marketing efforts are eating out every night or eating ramen at home? First things first, a good campaign needs to start with a goal. This goal can be to increase website traffic, increase leads, better brand awareness, fill positions or a number of other options, but it HAS to have a goal.
It is imperative to sit down with your team before speaking with a digital marketing agency’s team. This is because the marketing agency’s job is to help you achieve these goals, not create them for you. If the goals do not matter or do not align with your company’s overarching notions, it does not matter how many consumers came to the website.
Once this is established, let your marketing agency do one single strategy with some other small ones sprinkled in there to see what IS and ISN’T working. Doing PPC ads one time will not show if it is worth it, but doing PPC and organic SEO will show you if you need to spend more money on one or the other!
3. Correct form
When you lift weights, you need to squeeze your stomach and use the proper form. The same notion goes for social media and digital marketing efforts. Without the correct forms, companies often find these five common problems occurring:
Waste of time
Lack of understanding
Lack of consistency
Lack of appeal
Lack of analytics and reporting
Stop wasting time, money and not having anything to show at the end of the day without the correct form. Also, if incorrect form continues to happen, it can lead to injury!
