Digital Marketing 101: What is PPC (Pay Per Click) Marketing?
Pay Per Click (PPC) Marketing is a paid advertisement strategy generating clicks to your website.
In a nutshell, you pay Google* to advertise your website. Every time your ad is clicked and a visitor is sent to your website, y Google receives a small fee.
Have you ever seen sponsored ads at the top of a search result? That’s PPC.
For example, say someone uses Google to find the “top marketing firm in Omaha.” If Omaha Media Group used a PPC ad, then our business will list on the top page of Google’s search results.
Why would I use PPC?
First of all, you have the power to set an advertising budget according to your needs. PPC marketing doesn’t have to be expensive, especially if you already have an SEO and digital marketing strategy already in place.
Additionally, PPC has the ability to generate traffic to your website faster than organic traffic. While organic search results are the most reliable when it comes to reaching your online marketing goals, they’re slow benefits to sow.
Basically, organic search marketing is a marathon. PPC is a 5K race.
Should I use SEO or PPC?
Understandably, if you’ve never done any online marketing for your business, it’s easy to get confused and push it aside.
Our simple answer? Both.
SEO, the “marathon”, is ongoing work. You can receive consistent results after a matter of time and sustain the momentum. You can also increase the value of your website and build authority, but we’ll get into that another time.
The “5K” race, PPC, is nearly instantaneous. Once your PPC campaign is approved, your ads will immediately be on display for the internet world to see. These work great for product launches, affiliate marketing, seasonal promotions, event and time-focused marketing, etc.
To reiterate our point, both SEO and PPC are important. While they are different strategies altogether, they are complementary to each other in digital marketing.
